community jubilee service
Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth has served her country for seventy years and people far and wide are celebrating the committment and service she's shown over the years.
The Queen often refers to her Christian faith as the motivation for her long service and so we'd like to celebrate by thanking God for her and by celebrating Him, the King our Queen serves, with an outdoor service and community lunch on 5th June at Jubilee Hall.
We meet at Jubilee Hall from 10.30am. If you'd like to join us in person please do come along!
Tea, coffee, toast and cakes are available before and after our meetings so arrive from 10am and stick around after for a bite to eat and a chat.
We meet to do the important work of praying at 7.45pm every Wednesday evening. We alternate between meeting in smaller groups and meeting in bigger groups each week.
Email us for more info and to join a small prayer group.

Meet some of the team
Ian lives close to Jubilee Hall with his wife Lydia and his four children. The two led the team of people who founded GCW and are just as passionate about bringing the Gospel to Wakefield now as they were at the very start! You'll often find Ian preachingand leading our weekly meetings while Lydia helps teach the children's 'Explorers' group. The two are always ready to welcome new visitors and their children can't be missed on a Sunday, often making sure new children feel welcome too!
Matt is also one of the church's deacons and ishe's all hands on deck when it comes to handling the practical and technical things that help keep our church running as normal. Matt lives in Wakefield and was part of the initial team of people who set out to start a church in Wakefield alongside Ian and Lydia. If you'd like to hear a little of our church's history, Matt's a good go-to!
Richard lives with his wife Hannah and their three children in the Netherton area of Wakefield and is also one of our deacons. When he's not knee deep in wires during Sunday morning set-up, working with our other deacons to keep things running smoothly or catching a break with some cake, he's managing a furniture store in a nearby town.
Chris lives in Wakefield with his wife Chloe and their two childten. He'sone of the church's four deacons and, as part of this role, he helps handle all the practical matters that come with running a church. As well as being a deacon, Chris is also on the worship team which means, if he's not playing the piano, he's guranteed to be playing around trying to get some tech in order for us on a Sunday morning!
Jamie & Megan
Jamie has been the church's pastoral assistant since 2017 and works alongside Ian to help things tick along. Like Ian, you may see Jamie leading some of our meetings and preaching on a Sunday morning. Jamie lives in the centre of Wakefield with his wife Megan and their daughter Rhoda. Both Megan and Jamie teach the children in 'Explorers' on a Sunday morning and you'll often find them helping to lead us in worship through song on a Sunday. Don't be aftraid to say hi in person - they love a good chat!
Steph lives on the outskirts of Wakefield in Normanton and is one of the church's youth leaders. She's been a team member at GCW since 2019 and it's her job to co-ordinate our church's 'Explorers' group which runs on a Sunday for primary school aged children. Steph has a real care for the childeren in the church and is always on hand if you have any questions regarding youth clubs and events!
